The trip was a unique experience and gave us an insight into the beauty of parts of South Australia.....

We discovered we were the only participants booked and Banksia still provided the tour to be conducted to our enjoyment.

Overall the tour provided us with a most wonderful opportunity to see areas of Australia we had not visited previously. In almost perfect weather it was a unique experience to see so much of the area benefiting from the recent heavy rains and to see first hand what can take place in a desert environment providing there is regular rainfall.

    Highlights

    • Spencer Gulf and Port Augusta.
    • Woomera with its unique museum of rockets and artifacts from the early sixties when it was a major area for testing rockets and guided weapons.
    • Andamooka and the visit to an Opal mine with Gerry conducting us on a tour of the site including his summer quarters, and a showing of many different opals of varying values.
    • Roxby Downs with its green trees well established streets and well kept houses.
    • The vast open plains with flat topped mountains and many emus and Kangaroos.
    • Coober Pedy with its ‘’dirt pyramids’’ and thousands of mines dug out over many years
    • Desert Cave Hotel was a truly unique experience and we did enjoy the time there and Colin’s suggestion to visit the Painted Hills
    • The Cave Museum for a demonstration of new mining techniques.
    • Passing along the Oodnadatta Track so much part of our early history
    • Dinner at Williams Creek dining on a platter of Kangaroo, Emu, Goats cheese, Camel and bush tomatoes. A not to be missed experience.
    • We took a spectacular photo of a dingo as he stood majestically on a hill top just to the side of our vehicle.
    • Coming into areas of the Flinders Ranges and the change of scenery from flat desert to beautiful gorges where the recent rains had made some of the roads almost impossible to drive through, but the many ferns and rocks impregnated with fossils was worth any difficulty.

The trip was a unique experience and gave us an insight into the beauty of parts of South Australia.
A look back at the early settlements and its history and people.
The uniqueness that was so different to our many overseas trips.
The overall friendliness of those we met made it particularly enjoyable, it will be something we talk to our friends about during our time with them.
Colin provided us with many variations to the itinerary and would often state, “ I know where I can take you for something special.”  This of course added to our experience and would probably not take place if there were more people on board.
On review we would say we should have added an extra day as it certainly was exhausting, but it was also very unique and satisfying.
The accommodation was the best available and the underground hotel was something very special.

Thank you to Roxanne and Colin for their efficient management of our tour.

      Regards,
      B & D

Four of us recently made the Flinders Ranges 4WD trip in the company of your guide Helen Mercer (3-5 March).....

We would like to say that it was a fantastic experience, made all the more enjoyable by Helen. As well as being professioanl and competent, she was a great companion and we quickly came to consider her as the fifth member of our group.

    Don't let her go - she's a gem.

Could you please pass on this feedback to Helen?

    Thanks,

    Graham.

Helen was fantastic, a very capable lady and so much fun was had on the trip, nothing was a bother and we were all very sad to have to finally hit Adelaide on our last day.

The country side was spectacular, and the highlight to reach the top of the mountain was WOW.

Thank you Helen for the wonderful trip,I thank Banksia Adv for the opportunity of going.

    Yours sincerely Janice

Chris has performed the most professional and interesting tour we have ever participated in.....

Dear Sirs, My wife and me had the pleasure to attend a guided 1 day tour into Barossa Valley from Adelaide the 12th of March. The tour was guided by a gentleman called Chris, a retired Londoner who lives in Australia since 30 years (?). We would like to inform you that your guide Chris has performed the most professional and interesting tour we have ever participated in. He also managed to give us who are beginners in the science of wine as much information as we could digest, and at the same time could let us learn the different types of tyical wins from the valley in the most professional and agreeable way. We therefore would like to congratulate you to have such a guide in your company! Best greetings from Sweden Urban Associate professor in Cardiology Linköping Sweden
